Registration Is Over!Registration of Participants of the Automated Trading Championship 2008 is over! For almost three months we accepted applications for participation in the contest. 2420 persons have registered on the website. This is 400 more than last year. 770 developers have submitted their Expert Advisors. They constitute 32% of all persons that submitted applications for participation in the Championship. These developers have fully completed registration, i.e. they have submitted their Expert Advisors and filled in all necessary personal details.
The diagram shows that 69% were not included into the list of Participants. There are several reasons for this. For example, 35% of those who registered did not submit their EAs, or their programs did not pass automated checking. Despite numerous reminders, 6 (0,25%) of developers did not fill in their personal details. They also were not admitted to the contest. Persons remaining are those who neither submitted an Expert Advisor nor filled in personal information. They amount to 33%. On the 19th of September 2008 at 23:59 (Moscow time) Registration for participation in the contest was closed. Since that time we do not accept Expert Advisors anymore. The system of automated EA checking was stopped. The days that are left till the Championship start will be devoted to the manual checking of Participants. We will check the correctness of personal information of each Participant. The fact of multiple registrations will be obligatorily checked as well. The final list of Participants will be made up and published on the 1st of October 2008. This very day we will see the list of those who will struggle for the main prize in the third annual Championship – Automated Trading Championship 2008! Created: 2008.09.22 Author: MetaQuotes

From the rules: "make at least 5 conscious trades within the first 8 backtesting months (2008.01.01-2008.08.01)" well... in fact there are only 7 months there... :P:P codersguru wrote:
I agree with you in the point that the backtesting can not say if the EA scalping or not. Thanks codersguru, for your comments. I respect your work and your opinion on this. Again, best of luck, I hope you win. 2008.09.25 23:27

Hi Renat, could you please comment on the automatic back testing of the scalping rule? My EA is not a scalper. The rule clearly states "trades made by the end of the contest" so how can any EA be disqualified for scalping by the automatic backtest? My EA was submitted 2008.09.19 10:59 . I did not get a response on the test until 2008.09.21 02:07 To codersguru, you said: I aslo have been doing this for more than 3 years and consider myself one of the good programmers, so yes codersguru, I FEEL YOUR PAIN! I learned much from all your postings and code. Thanks for all you have done for the community! I just want an answer to the wording of the rule and my question; Is it fair to disqualify an EA that is not really a scalper because a percentage of the trades fall within the spread on the automatic back test? Again, thanks to MetaQuotes, the sponsors, and good luck codersguru. I hope you win the contest! You deserve it. I agree with you in the point that the backtesting can not say if the EA scalping or not. I think the forward test and/or the champ itself can say if the EA scalping or not. I hope MetaQuotes consider your EA as a qualified one. I'm sure they (MetaQuotes) have a good intention to all the us because our intention too is to make MetaTrader the best forex trading platform. Thanks again SnappyNap. In the spirit of being a good sport and being "honest with ourselves here" I don't really want to argue about this. I think the rules should be intrepreted by the officials, in the spirit of the rule, it is to eliminate scalping programs like the one submitted last year by winwin. But my EA IS NOT A SCALPER!!! It uses a protection strategy of a stop loss or take profit, only after the position has moved any direction by more than 30 pips. This strategy is allowed by all the brokers I forward tested with...FXDD, IBFX, and Alpari. You said in your last post "what i believe that they mean ..." I think for the developers who were disqualified and the community, an official statement should be made on the interpretation of the rules. I understand that ultimately, MetaQuotes reserves the right "to disqualify him/her showing the cause". I accept that I submitted at the last minute and that my expert had an error, therefore I am disqulaified. 2008.09.25 23:20
Hi you all,
Since none of the organizers, moderators, or members of the jury bother to respond to my posts whether on the forum, on the comment section of my profile or on the news section of the championship. I came up with this crazy idea that this whole thing could just be a scam to get your EA and use them for their own. Yes, I have been disqualified because of rules 2.5 & 2.6 and I am bitter because I work so hard for it. These rules say explicitly: - The Participant can be registered only once within the
Championship. I did just that, only once. - Registration of your friends or relatives instead of you
will result in your disqualification. I did not registered my friend or relative instead of me. - If any registered persons display
their ignorance of trading, they will be disqualified. I have been trading with different platforms in demo and in live for over 2 years - The
attempts of multiple registrations or use of anonymous proxies will
result in unambiguous disqualification of the Participant. As I said before, I registered only once.
Renat told me: "Someone used account 'rayve' and 'pasmat' from one computer." So what? This does not break the rules. It does not say anywhere that you cannot logon to your account from your friend computer. Mind you it should be easy for them to say what happen when I logon (no updates, just a look at my account and only once, it probably lasted no more than 5 minutes). My friend registered his EA days or weeks after me and he registered for himself not instead of me. By the way, yes, I read the rule 2.8: Organizers reserve the right to refuse registration to a Participant without showing the cause and to disqualify him/her showing the cause. In one of my last post, I have even agreed to renounce to the price. I just ask that my EA be run on the Metaquote server during the championship so I can see it competing against the others. Once again no answers. I suggest next year you just set this simple rule: Participants will be qualified for the Championship if we, Organizers, feel like it.

dear everlongh "If the Expert Advisor's behavior during preliminary testing essentially differs from that during the Championship"...quoted from rule "it plainly implies that the EA participates in the event and then behaves differently than it did during testing"... your quote lets be honest with ourselves here. there is no place the organizers says EA that fails the scalping test will be admitted to the champ until its superlative scalping behavior is confirmed b/4 it is removed. what i believe that they mean is that all EA that pass the 8months back test and if for some reasons during the champ it now made over 25% scalping trade it will be disqualified. so assuming your EA made only 20% scalping trade during back test and it now increases to 26% or more during the champ it will be disqualified ... 190% chances that you will at the least exceed the 25% scalping allowance... (what???) I appreciate your comments SnappyNap, however, your math is all wrong! But you are right on a few things...
However you make my case when it comes to interpreting the rules; "If the Expert Advisor's behavior during preliminary testing essentially differs from that during the Championship", it plainly implies that the EA participates in the event and then behaves differently than it did during testing. Again, thanks for your comments, and good luck in the contest! 2008.09.25 17:20

It took me so much time to build and test my EA. I used 6 months data, the only problem is that "make at least 5 conscious trades within the first 8 backtesting months (2008.01.01-2008.08.01)" on that particular start day EA wouldn´t work.
So i guess i was excluded because it didn´t made 5 councious trades. Well i though.. this is ok because it will make trades during the contest.. But i was simple excluded and didn´t even got an email saying i should change my ea or i would be excluded. If i got that mail or message, i would have changed it..
It´s just too frustrating beeing out of this competition after so much work..
Now i know why so may developers are putted away, they simple aren´t warned and they think everything is ok with their EA.
A simple email would solve that..
