Organizer’s Note

The Automated Trading Championship 2007 comes to the end. We would like to thank our co-sponsors - ODL Securities Limited, Alpari (UK) Limited, FXDD and TRADERS' for their help in organizing and running the Championship.

2011 applicants from different countries submitted their EAs for participation in the Automated Trading Championship 2007. It is three times more than a year ago. But this year the selection of Participants was stricter and only 603 Expert Advisors were admitted for the Championship. For almost three months all these EAs have been trading independently without any human intervention. During this time they showed us how successful and profitable Expert Advisors should be developed.

Unfortunately we couldn’t avoid losses. Due to various errors and violation of the Championship Rules we had to disqualify 60 Expert Advisors, i.e. 10% of all Participants. Last year the rate of disqualified Participants was the same. Apparently, the experience of the previous Championship appeared to be insufficient, and many Participants violated the Championship Rules. So, by the end of the Championship only 543 Expert Advisors were left in the competition. Six of them did not manage to open. Last year there were 11 such EAs. This is the effect of better prepared EAs and the strict selection conducted prior to the Championship.

Only 93 EAs, or 17% out of the remaining 537 managed to enlarge their initial deposit. Last year the number of such EAs was larger by 3%. Evidently, the sphere of automated trading is young and many of developers still lack knowledge or experience.

And by organizing this Championship, we aimed at helping all developers to acquire the necessary knowledge and experience in automated trading. All volunteers could participate in the contest and show their achievements. Moreover, all persons interested could see others' results, learn new trading strategies or simply discuss all topics he is interested in with any EA-developer.

During the Championship we tried to make closer acquaintance with the developers of the brightest and the most interesting Expert Advisors. In their interviews they told in details about their experience, personal developments and trading strategies. These interviews helped to understand better the logic of different Expert Advisors and their authors - EA developers.

For a descriptive estimation of used strategies, we also published statistical reports. One could find there a lot of interesting material. These reports allowed seeing some EAs in a different light and understand better why some EAs become profitable, and others bear losses.

Summing up the results of the Automated Trading Championship 2007, it should be noted that the Championship has contributed much to the development of the automated trading. The Championship website became a certain knowledge base that vividly shows how Expert Advisors behave in real conditions, what problems they meet. The competition comes to the end, but all this information remains open and available for everyone. We hope those who are interested in automated trading will find a lot of useful information on our website which could help to improve their trading strategies and increase profitability of Expert Advisors.

Jury Session Record of the 19th of December 2007 Organizing the Automated Trading Championship 2007, we cared about the purity of the competition and equality of conditions for all Participants. This time we had to disqualify 14 Indonesian participants.
