Reporting the Championship: Third Week (15 - 21 October)

The third week of the Automated Trading Championship 2007 came to its end. The Top Ten have significantly changed again. Valeri Karpenko (Valvk) from Russia is on the first place now.

Valeri participated successfully in the last-year Championship and took the 4th place in it. He was only a little down to get into the Top Three last year. Valeri seems to have set his mind on getting the title of the Best Expert Advisors' Developer this year. As of the end of the third week, his result is 24 200 dollars with a fantastic Profit Factor of 1 359. Valeri's Expert Advisor allowed only one losing trade of 10 dollars during this Championship. A nice result!

The second place was taken by Participant nicked as mmayson from New Zealand. His Profit Factor is not so impressive as that of the leader, but it is notable, too: 7.36. The expected payoff exceeds 1 000 dollars, whereas the total result is 23 782 dollars. Well, not a bad score.

The third place is taken by MiltonWaddams from Australia. His result is 21 695 dollars. This is a very risky Expert Advisor - all its positions were opened early this month and are still open. There are no stop orders. If the market moves in an unfavorable direction, the Participant may lose everything. Most probably, Milton's Expert Advisor closes orders according to its own mechanisms, whereas positions still open are its efforts to "let the profit grow". Such as there were, we are glad to congratulate Milton on his third place and wish him further success.

The last-week favorite, Axelforex from Kyrgyzstan, held his leading positions during practically the whole week. Considering excellent indications of his Expert Advisor, many started to consider him to be the main contender for the title of the Best Expert Advisors' Writer 2007. However, he started to lose much at the end of the third week and got to only 8th place. The Expert Advisor's data have drastically changed, and its future does not seem to be so unambiguous as before. There is nothing else left for us to do but to watch the results and hope that the Expert Advisor will be luckier the next 9 weeks.

This week has drastically decreased profits of some Expert Advisors and essentially reshuffled the entire Top Ten. The Top Ten's total profit has decreased as compared to the preceding week and is now only 108 000 dollars. If profits were still growing last week, they started to decrease this week. The luckiest of risky Expert Advisors seem to leave the Top Ten. This means that there will be fewer sensations in future, but the struggle for the first places will flare up. That's all for the time being. Watch the Championship, it will be interesting!
