Equipment Test Report
Testing of equipment for the Championship has been accomplished today. The power of the blade server was found to be more than sufficient for conducting the Automated Trading Championship 2006. 25 terminals were running on each of the 10 servers. At that, the CPU loading made only 10%. "We knew, of course, that our terminals were rather resource-saving and that the blade server was a very powerful machine. But we did not know exactly how many terminals it could really bear. Now we know it, and we like the findings very much. We reserve the overcapacity advisedly since some expert advisors can require a large amount of computer resources", declared Stanislav Starikov, the lead developer of the MetaTrader 4 Client Terminal and MQL4. To check reliability of net connections, different situations of line breaks were created artificially. At that, automatic switching from fiber optic line to ADSL and back did not exceed one minute. Such short delays will not influence normal operation of the Participants' Expert Advisors in any way. However, if this happens, there is nothing to worry about. It is a standard situation for all traders who use experts. The uninterruptible power supplies were tested, too, to find out about the limits of their operation time without electricity. Thus, working blade server and modems can function properly without electric supply within 60 minutes. "We hope there will not be any power interruptions at all, but we decided to prepare for them in good time. I think one hour of offline operation would be more than enough to maintain the equipment operability", summed up Stanislav Starikov. The latest preparations are being made at the present time. There are three days left before the Automated Trading Championship 2006 starts. Created: 2006.09.27 Author: MetaQuotes
