Automated Trading Today and Tomorrow
As is known, chaotic and irregular trading can result in huge financial losses. However, even having developed an effective trading strategy, one cannot be fully sure of success. Man is not a robot. His trading is often influenced by simple human emotions. Following the system, trader notices that he or she loses other good opportunities. Trying to maximize the profits, the trader gradually deviates from precise following the system and loses sooner or later.
The specifics of financial markets should not be ignored either. They are rather dynamic, characterized by large amounts of information to be processed and analyzed for making trading decisions. And this must be done very fast. If a trader tarries, he or she can easily miss a propituous moment to make a trade. The haste will cause losses, as well. But man, in addition, can get tired. It is really difficult to hold attention and think straight after a sequence of very stressful hours spent in front of the monitor. It is very difficult to analyze information and make trading decisions. As a result, all this causes much stress, inevitable mistakes and, as a consequence, losses again. Automated trading systems, as computer programs, are devoid of such disadvantages. They have no emotions, keep the predefined logic unfailingly, can quickly analyze data and make adequate decisions. And, of course, they are never tired. Here emerges the question: Is it possible to automate any trading system? Ahmed Soliman, a professional developer usually known as CodersGuru, believes it is: "Tell me logically how you trade manually and I'll give you back an automated trading system!" It turns out that one can make away with the above problems using programs that automate the trading. Moreover, trader has more free time using an automated trading system in real trading on financial markets. Among other advantages, the use of automated trading systems allows controlling of risks. Developers can create a relatively safe system, which will be less profitable at the same time. Or vice versa: A riskier but more profitable system. Rashid Umarov thinks that "it is impossible to create a very profitable Expert Advisor with minimal risk". That is why developers always face the necessity to choose between the risk and the profitability. But, unlike manual trading, there is a possibility to control risks using experts. Tomorrow
Brokerage companies take automated trading very seriously, as well. Increasingly more traders start using experts in their trading activities. "Today increasingly many of our customers use Expert Advisors in their trading activities to get the most convenient solutions for their forex business", declares Daniel Taklegeorgis, General Manager of Spacevision Switzerland SA. Shawn Dilkes, CTO of FXDD, adds: "There's more automated trading done on demo accounts versus live accounts as people want to test their abilities".
Stanislav Starikov, the lead developer of the MetaTrader 4 Client Terminal and MetaQuotes Language 4 (MQL4) in MetaQuotes Software Corp., says: "At present, the unprecedented upturn, even boom of automated trading can be observed. According to average information, about 20% of all trades performed with our platform in all brokerage companies are made using Expert Advisors". With such a shift of key
points, it is no wonder that brokerage companies consider automated trading to
be a new and very advanced technology. A technology for the future. Shawn Dilkes continues: "Automated trading is beneficial for the customer as it removes the human element, emotions from the trading environment. It's definitely more efficient". By estimate of brokerage companies themselves, the use of automated trading systems will always increase. Daniel Taklegeorgis: "Automated trading systems are changing both the face and the infrastructure within investment companies. Over the next five years, these changes will continue to evolve and create radical changes". Shawn Dilkes: "Significant portion of our customers makes use of Expert Advisors, and we can see this technology is becoming more popular. We estimate that the amount of FXDD customers who use Expert Advisors may double in a year's time as people become more cognizant of the technology". Created: 2006.09.06 Author: MetaQuotes
The beauty of forex is chaos. Chaos means the ability to predict fairly accurately
on the short term. I can see automated trading making a big chnage soon,
especially if artificial intelligence optimization is used.
