How did you come into trading?
I may say that it began by chance. It was a period when my time was my own and I often browsed in the web. I came across one of the first software packages by MetaQuotes Software Corp. I was interested. I gradually began to enjoy it and started to trade regularly.
Could you tell us a little about your trading experiences?
I started trading with a company in Kiev 4 years ago. I invested a rather big amount of money at that time. I expected that my success would be inevitable. However, that experience resulted in me losing all the money. I had an opportunity to replenish my deposit there, which I did immediately. At that time, there were wide gaps in my knowledge of Forex. I tried to trade on the market inertia. Of course, the most positions were opened on the wave peaks, but instead of getting profits. This made me think about trading alot at that time and I gradually got to know what was what. One can gain experiences and trade manually. This method is perhaps the most effective. I started to "sense the market" after a couple of years sitting nestled in front of my monitor. I suppose 2 or 3 years are sufficient for the most of traders to enter into the process. But of course, this method is rather tiresome. It needs constant concentration and is accompanied by quite a nervous load. However, it has right to exist if compared to trading using certainly losing or unapt experts.
How and why did you turn to
expert advisors?
The first and the simplest reason was the obvious nervous load. Manual trading is also physically hard. Then a human, in most cases, can accumulate and synthesize his or her experiences but this takes rather long time. Years perhaps. You can quickly explain to the expert what you have understood. However, the expert cannot synthesize the experiences. I suppose semi-automatic trading to be the best way at the present time. Though I'm not satisfied with this either. I'm going to develop a fully automated system.
Do you think that automated trading is both new and advanced technology?
Half and half, this topic can
be viewed at several levels. I think 99% of users will not, unfortunately, get
success developing experts independently. No such luck! However, they can gain valuable experiences. They will pay a modest price for a professionally developed expert consciously
and light-heartedly.
If I am not mistaken, you wrote a number of very useful articles about automated trading. Are you planning to write a book?
No not a book. Although Im planning to write a kind of MQL4 tutorial.
This is news! Who will this tutorial be aimed towards?
The tutorial will be intended for both programmers who are new to trading and traders who are new to programming.
This tutorial will be interesting for many people. What size is planned for it? And when will it be
published?
I suppose it will take me several months. If everything is ok, a spacious tutorial can be expected to have been edited by this Christmas. Unfortunately, I'm not able to perform everything I wish now. I'm trying to complete development of the expert, which will participate in the Championship. The tutorial has to be put by for 3 or 4 weeks because of this.
Sergey, what do you think of Championship?
I think, its importance cannot
be overestimated. And prizes do not matter, in this case. I mean, this event
must be of broad resonance in all the adjacent fields of knowledge. And first of all, among traders. Moreover,
this event will push experienced programmers to develop commercial experts.
You decided to participate in the Championship. What do you think of its terms? Don't you find them too tough?
Well, I would not say "hard". All this would not make sense without some hardness and clear terms. Though, you know, I'd change some terms. The changes will not be essential, though, rather technical.
For example, I would not limit the amount of experts submitted by one participant. I would allow trading on several currency pairs attaching an expert in each window. In real situations, this is how the trader acts. The expert will be brought into operation when the first positive results are obtained. The trader just launches it on several charts and practically never refines it to be capable to trade on several symbols from one window. That won't work in commercial versions, perhaps, but I would permit it for the Championship.
Sergey, can you disclose the principle, on which your expert will work? Or is it a secret?
This is a secret, yes. A commercial secret I would say. I really lay my hopes on this technology. I can only say that, outwardly, the expert will be based on
my AutoGraf application. As a result, I'm going to develop a fully automated system that would really allow me to say: "Sit back and enjoy".
If you win and get the first prize, how will you dispose of it?
Hmm… I will have to ask my wife!:) Of course, a part of it will be spent on promoting of the business that I have been nurturing for a long time. I shall say no more yet.
Thank you for your answers. Victory be yours at our Championship!
Thank you for your attention and
for your good wishes.
