the behaviour it exhibits. And for the time being, we want to keep this EA as a
"black box", which should earn us some pips without us asking why. I
know exactly what it does, of course, but not exactly why that brings about its
reliability. I'm happy with that it does. 1

This EA is obviously not considering retrace probability. This is deliberate design. When I was writing my competition EA I did all my testing exclusively on the three month time period 14/2/06 -> 14/5/06, I even cut it down to 10/4/06 -> 14/5/06 at times. My expectation was that this would most closely model the price action in the three months of competiton. It didn't take me long to work out 'buy and hold' was effectively unbeatable in these conditions. So yes I am seriously vulnerable to retrace,.. but there is no prize for fourth, so we must seize the moment and trust in dollar diversification!
